Ty Monstaz/Ty Plush Toys

Do you remember the Ty Beenie Babies of the ‘90’s?  I of course remember them well. I can remember running all over town to every Cracker Barrel, every specialty shop, curio shop and doughnut store and McDonald’s  in search of the latest and greatest Beenie Baby.

While I’ve long since given or sold my collection, I still have a few special babies tucked away. Mostly beenies given to me by my then girlfriend, bears and birds that I’m told reminded her of me.

Those beenies now have either had kids or mutated into today’s Monstaz and Monstaz Plush Toys.

Ty Inc(not to be confused with Tyco Toys or Tyco Security products) makers of the ultra popular Beenie Babies  was established by Ty Warner,#342 on Forbes Magazine’s billionaire list coming in at a net worth in 2010 of $2.9billion. Warner created his first Beenie Baby in 1986 and has been going strong ever since.

What Are The Ty Monstaz?

The Monstaz and their big cousins the plush Monstaz, each with birthday of January 3^rd began
 to appear early in 2012. These creatures don’t feature the old Ty heart tag as did their older counterparts. These guys come with their own Monstaz tag and “luv me” hearts sewn to their chests.

Pressing their chest hearts encourage the gang to begin speaking some odd language, I suppose a language only kids can understand. The gang come in size ranging from about 6 inches for the smaller Monstaz to 9 inches for the larger plush version.

There also a smaller key chain version if you can believe that.

Things You Would Like About Ty Monstaz

The toys are cute, I’ll give them that. My little test group, 2 young girls from the family and the kid down the block, seemed to enjoy these fellas. The younger male of the species, no surprise hated them and attempted to find a way to make them stop speaking, singing or whatever the sound is.

You like the low cost of the smaller version which as of this writing is about $4.99. The larger based on a quick check at Amazon , and Ty will set you back at about $11.00.

Things I Didn’t Like About Ty Monstaz

The thing about this toy I didn’t like was the talking they did. Get a few together with a few girls and you’ll witness a cacophony(my big word of the day) of sound similar to chickens clucking or the wife and her friends tearing down another woman silly enough not to show up to book club.

Who Would Like This Toy

Young girls will definitely like the Monstaz.  I can see them getting a lot of fun out of them for quite awhile. While they may not play with these critters in a few years, you will face resistance if you try to get rid of them.
